Recognizing that the Industry is facing
with increasing questions and concern about the
potential health risks of nanomaterials, IANT is
organizing a
Nano Tox Consortium
comprising of manufacturing companies, university
research centers, independent toxicology laboratories
and other interested organizations with the following
objectives:
(a) to
collaborate in conducting toxicological studies on
nanomaterials, (b) to develop an international safety
standard (c) to make available within the Consortium a
database of comprehensive toxicological data of all
nanomaterials, (d) to develop guidelines for the
production and usage of nanomaterials in the industry
and (e) to interface with the FDA, EPA and other
regulatory agencies regarding on how to regulate the
approval, production and usage of nanomaterials to
ensure public safety and homeland security and (f) to
serve as a united voice in communicating with any
consumer advocate organizations concerning the safety
and risk factors of Nanomaterials.
IANT Members are invited to
participate in the discussion as well as serving on
various sub committees of the Nano Tox Consortium. For
