The recent industrial accident with nanoparticles in China underscore the need for safe industry practices when handling these potentially toxic materials. Seven workers were injured and two died. It may seem that AB-289 has come just in time, but is this true? Will the passage of AB-289 make us safer or will this be just another piece of legislation burdening California businesses? We expect there to be lively discussions around this topic.
Our featured speaker is John Monica, Jr a Nano-regulation expert and an attorney with Porter Write Morris & Arthur, LLP. John has written many articles on the topic of nano regulation, including Nanotechnology Law, which was published by West/Thomson/Reuters in July 2009.
This evening event focuses on California’s passage of AB-289 and what this means for California organizations involved in the sale, manufacture, importing or exporting of carbon nanotubes. Organizations and individuals are invited to freely discuss the impact of this legislation.
